Functions as a big tech company

Pros

Competitive salary, nice office and food. Talented people. Company wide holidays.

Cons

The company was unfair to me; they relocated me to a foreign country, and then laid me off less than a year due to strategic changes by the senior leadership and the CEO. It was an extremely traumatizing experience for me, I had to pay off my relocation back to home expenses out of my pocket. It was nearly impossible for me to find growth opportunities for working in-game development over the past 9 years, I had to work on other stuff. It wasn't fun. Getting things done was mostly dependent on how many people I know in the company. My managers changed more than 8 times during my tenure, some were inexperienced. Products and teams were constantly changing quarterly, I lost count how many times I got on board to a new thing. The delivery expectations got bigger/bolder overtime, which was overwhelming me in the background.

Pros

Good pay, medical benefits, bonuses. If you like working on campus the food situation is out of control with a free cafeteria, fully stocked break rooms, coffee shop, and smoothie bar. There is also an arcade to play in if you ever get a minute to do that kind of thing.

Cons

Has become more of a corporation with a clear objective to maximize the appearance of profits at the expense of the artists with layoffs under the guise of corporate responsibility. The original vision of being the most player focused game company feels a bit lost in the new environment. Big bets are now met with big layoffs of people who didn't make the big bet to begin with while those in senior leadership who make the big bets are free to make bigger bets in the future with other peoples careers.
