The coolness factor isn't enough to pay the bills

Pros

Working for Rockstar makes you feel like... well, like a rockstar.

Cons

Their idea of a "competitive salary" is not a salary you can expect the rest of the industry to pay, it's more like a "there is high competition to work for us so we'll pay you the least we can get away with paying you". Think regular employees see a penny of the record profits rockstar makes in game sales? Think again...

Pros

- Get to play some of the best games in the industry. - Get to playstest the newest consoles on the market and unreleased kits. - Build good relationships

Cons

- Crunch time is really, really... rough - Working ridiculous hours - Often a negative environment filled with Bullys who think they are better than everyone else and because they've been here for years they can tread all over you and force you to do things and if you refuse then they raise the issues to higher authority and can lead to meetings about performance issues.

Pros

Great work, creative visuals and a name that is known around the world.

Cons

No consideration for work/life balance. Employees have no choice but to work late and give up their life outside of work because of the constant demand for a fast production pipeline. Good work doesn't come fast especially under sleep deprivation and mental stress. No monetary compensation for OT. Lack of additional resources in order to make full time employees feel supported. Project timelines unrealistic and overly demanding.
