Too much change right now

Pros

Working with some really great people.

Cons

This was a great company to work for until the last couple of years. Now, new management is forcing through huge changes without any qualitative analysis of the impact on the company's employees (or maybe they just don't care). Morale is extremely low, especially in the Irvine office, where a number of positions have recently been eliminated or moved to the Atlanta office. Irvine employees that are left have no sense of job security and are just wondering when their turn is. Change this massive can be a good thing, but it has to be managed well and Sage has just dropped the ball completely here. Upper management's message of "just deal with it" is not exactly effective change management. The company will probably recover, and may be a great place to work again in a few years, but I wouldn't recommend it right now. Certainly not the Irvine office.

Disappointing Decline in Colleague-Centred Values

Pros

There are some solid benefits, including healthcare and pension plans. There are also pockets of career development opportunities if your face fits. Some colleagues genuinely want to make a difference, and a collaborative spirit exists within some departments despite the limitations created by top-down mandates. However, these positives are often overshadowed by restrictive policies that undermine flexibility and morale.

Cons

The recently enforced three-day-a-week office mandate feels like a deliberate move towards forced attrition, with little regard for employee needs or work-life balance. Leadership appears out of touch with the realities of day-to-day work and seems far more interested in controlling teams than actually listening to what boosts productivity and satisfaction. This mandate feels like a quick fix for visibility rather than a long-term, employee-focused strategy. The disconnect between leadership and the workforce is palpable, with a “bums on seats” mentality taking priority over any real focus on improving employee morale or engagement. It’s disappointing to see Sage ignore the positive strides made during the remote work period, which makes it harder to see the company as a truly progressive or colleague-first workplace.

We appreciate your feedback and have read through your comments. Please note that our hybrid working approach is an important element of the way we work at Sage that is complemented by other benefits such as paid time to volunteer, the ability to work away for up to 10 weeks a year and free well-being support tools. We recently also answered several colleagues' questions about the new 3-day policy. In doing so, we've shed more light on how colleagues will be supported as they adhere to our updated hybrid structure. More information about what we offer can be found here https://www.glassdoor.co.uk/Benefits/Sage-United-Kingdom-Benefits-EI_IE1150.0,4_IL.5,19_IN2.htm - Thanks for taking the time to leave your review. We’ll continue to work hard to improve how we enable colleagues to thrive.
