Pros

Depending on the group/division your job can be funny and exciting. In general, the benefits are good but the salary sometimes are not competitive. In research teams, that I worked, you can participate in the most important congresses in the world. So, we have good chance to overseas travels.

Cons

There are some teams that you will have few chances to learn or grow in your career. The evaluation performance process is horrible and forces managers to apply bad scores for good workers. It happens because the company wants only the best employees, but depending on the team size, the evaluation process might be a shot in the foot. Another bad aspect is the HR. In general, they are not transparent and many policies for employees are unclear.

Pros

Samsung has a lot of budget to develop marketing campaigns and events. Great opportunity to work with the best agencies around the world. It's an excellent company to learn how to be flexible and learn that you can make things done in a really short period of time. If you embrace projects, there are opportunities in all areas, because R&R it's not defined.

Cons

No autonomy to make decisions. There are too many useless and stupid processes that only make employees lose time, instead of thinking in the strategical decisions. Deadlines are really tight and with the processes, generate more stress to make things done. Some Koreans don't speak english and don't understand local needs. No R&R defined. In order to take advantage of the company, it's important to embrace all projects that company offers. Samsung has more directors and managers than analyst and interns and the processes are the same for everybody, so it makes people frustrated. No life balance. No flexible hours. Koreans like to see people in their seats all the time.
