Good place to pad your resume while working a second job to get by

Pros

PTO and the ability to buy more PTO Most of my co-workers, particularly the ones that like to go out drinking after work If you have a laptop you can work from home from time to time OT is offered in some positions

Cons

Like my title suggested, the bank does not pay a living wage. I worked there for 10 years and the only raises that I received was when I took a new position (twice). The cash bonuses that you receive at the end of the year come to about $12 a week after taxes. The cost of living raises are.....not there. Most people that I worked with had to work a second job. A lot of of posted positions that are higher grade levels state that Spanish speaking is a plus, but not required. While that may not sound like an issue, most of the time those positions are given to those that came over from Spain. So, if you want to move up, learn the language. No, they don't offer language lessons. The tech is old, unstable and unusable. The customers of the bank deserve better than what is offered. Whatever Santander introduces, other banks have done it for years. The benefits, medical-wise, fall short. The coverage for the one medical plan that's offered is minimal and the deductibles are high. The only other plan is a medical health savings account. Oh, and the deductions from your paycheck are high and that's WITHOUT a family plan. The dental and vision plans are pretty solid, though. So like I said, work there for a few years, get some experience, get some references, get some pennies in your pocket and then look elsewhere.

Pros

Good benefits, solid global bank

Cons

My manager had no direction, likes to micromanage and asked for things he later denied. Everything is urgent and there is no strategic roadmap to where the bank needs to go and how, lack of priorities is frustrating. This is common in the group
