Pros

The only pro is that the platform is nice, but its not any nicer than the competition. Speaking of competition, being at Shopify, your only real competitor is your lower tiers of service which often offer enough to make Shopify Plus not that critical.

Cons

Everything from Toby down is terrible. Leadership makes changes every quarter, meaning that you are wasting the first month of a quarter tiering your book and ensuring that accounts are workable. Most of the accounts in your book are terrible, but data science has no accountability, it all ends up landing on sales to produce with nothing. Leadership has taken away any sales tools that were once used to be able to sift through the terrible books. If you hit below 80%, you get hit with major decelerators that make your compensation unjustifiably low. Shopify has a model of charging different pricing to different customers on the same tier. This is a conversation that makes every customer mad. Shopify allowed the Yeezy store to sell a shirt with a hate symbol for 2 days before taking the store down for not authentically conducting commerce not because of its potential to spread hate, however, you can find receipts for the item everywhere you look so it must have conducted some commerce. This is ethically very very questionable.

Pros

Great product and employee benefits, including lifestyle spending and insurance

Cons

There are very limited opportunities for growth unless you're well-connected with senior leadership or engage in internal politics. Layoffs occur every quarter, creating a constant sense of job insecurity. The company culture is minimal—working remotely feels isolating, with little to no team spirit. Sales targets increase each quarter, and commissions are becoming increasingly difficult to achieve.
