Pros

Without wishing to sound facetious, I cannot honestly think of one. My own journey into Sodexo has been fraught with pitfalls and obstacles leaving me depressed and feeling totally inadequate.

Cons

I believed on my initial arrival at Sodexo that theirs was a progressive caring company, I was wrong, entirely so. I'd had no choice but to move to Sodexo from the company I was originally employed by. Allegedly, due to restructuring, I have had the misfortune since to have been a Sodexo employee for almost a year as a full time employee. I say full time though the truth is more likely to be that I show up, I go home, I get paid. I have been placed in the embarrassing position where no-one quite knows what to do with me. My original job description has been thrown out of the window and I have to go hunting for scraps to try and keep focussed on a day to day basis. I am of course pursuing a hopefully corrective course so that I might yet find gainful employment within Sodexo. Why would I want to remain at Sodexo you might ask, well with a combination of age, a specialised skill set and my place of work being close to home, I doubt if I could find anything else in the near (or distant) future that would suit me quite as well and so I am now fighting for the right to remain employed here but with a true job title and a firm job description. For the first six months after my move to Sodexo, I had incorrect salary deposits paid into my account which led to no end of problems trying to sort everything out with my creditors. In addition, I was, unfortunately, taken ill some months after my move and not once in that extended period of illness did anyone from the company even attempt a home visit to see if I was either okay or wanting. There are some very nice peolple working for Sodexo but it would undoubtedly appear that the higher up the corporate ladder they climb, the quicker they forget their own roots. I have seen manager's treating themselves at the company's expense to beverages and meals. Abusing their authority regularly by parking wherever and whenever they choose despite site regulations stating otherwise. I know of occasions when a manager will deliberately make a statement of falsehood to have an employee come in to work extra hours then deny that extra payment would be forthcoming or agreed. Instances too, where an employee's pay would be consistantly made to be erroneous simply because that employee was disliked by their manager. I have asked for conferences to discuss my future with Sodexo, meetings to define my role and for the opportunity to attend courses to render myself more suitable for any role they care to give me but even now, after all this time, my requests fall continually on deaf ears. I can only presume from their attitude that the managers do not want me here, if that is the case then why on earth did they take me on in the first place? Obviously not all of Sodexo is bad and I don't doubt that there are employees who have nothing but praise for their employer, unfortunately I am not one of them. I am not one of those who persist in or make a habit of moaning or refusing to work or to offer help and advice. I am a hard working, knowledgeable, friendly, highly experienced individual with an enormous amount to offer who, for some unknown reason, has been chosen to be trodden on by those who apparently feel they are something special. I personally feel totally aggrieved by my treatment whilst in the employ of Sodexo, as do many others on my behalf, but where do I go from here and just how long does it take management to figure out what I should be doing for my salary? I would very much like to find out, no matter how long it takes!!

Pros

I like the people that I work with in my department. I like that I have had the ability to learn and expand my role, which I took the initiative to do. Work life balance is okay because of my current position.

Cons

There was no real training. I am not being compensated for the extra roles I have taken that are completely outside of my original scope of work or job description. My boss is emotional and not very professional.

Pros

There were always awesome people to work with. The customers were great as well. I enjoyed my time with this company before everything went down hill. I had a lot of fun and learned everyday. I didn't mind being on call or having to mandate people. I really truly was happy with this company for over a decade.

Cons

I worked with this company for 20+ years. I was loyal to them, however, they weren't loyal to me. I saw my first job with them get phased out for no reason even though I increased food sales every year along with customer satisfaction ratings that increased. My second job with them, I was promoted to GM and then demoted down to Food Supervisor which was just a fancy title for a cashier. I went from 50,000/yr to 12.50/hr. I don't see how that is fair to a veteran employee. I'm really just disappointed in them.

Sodexo Response

Thank you for taking the time to post a review. I'm sorry to hear about the situation you have described, as it sounds like you have been a loyal employee for many years. While I cannot speak to this exact scenario, I highly recommend discussing this with your HR Director to determine why something like this would have happened and how it can be addressed. It's fantastic that you enjoyed working with your colleagues and customers for all of that time, and I hope you are able to find that again.
