Worked to death

Pros

They are a toy company on the rise, and if you can get resources, are on the right team, and the owners like your ideas, you will have a lot of room to play with your creativity.

Cons

There is zero, zilch empathy about the long hours and extreme workload most staff experience. I work 70-80 hours a week and at least one day on the weekends and still can't keep up. I am a highly efficient person (actually won an award at my last job for that) so it's not me. This company will work you to death and not bat an eye. The turnover rate is really high. If you are part of one of the acquired companies you will be left out of all the resources and will not be integrated - I advise you to look for another job because it's not going to be better, your life will become hell. Project management only exists in a few quarters and communication between teams is very poor with only a few exceptions. It's really sad to have to leave this review, I was very optimistic at first, but I'm just so tired now it's hard to be positive. I am finally starting to look for another job because I know I'm just a number here now.

Toxic Environment

Pros

Great people within the team. Made some good friends! Good location.

Cons

Upper management are arrogant and they will hire external "yes-men" instead of promoting qualified, proven, dedicated employees from within. Wages are a joke. Executives seemed immature - could often be heard yelling and swearing in meetings. They liked to think they were a "hip, young" company but if you wanted snacks and drinks, you had to use vending machines. The only charitable initiatives they're involved with are the shady Autism Speaks and the self-congratulatory Sharing and Caring event. Extreme lack of morale due to being overworked. Working for a toy company was no fun. A few years back a man in the office dressed as a famous abuser of women for Halloween. Only in a company with a culture that values women so little would someone find that to be an appropriate costume.

Pros

Being part time you get long weekends every weekend, and most of your time is spent working from home. Usually there is an extra opportunity to make an additional $200 a year.

Cons

Uninspiring and de-motivating management. High turnover due to mindless, and demoralizing work. Hostile inter-department management, so make sure not to rock the boat with them. Flat structure, so there is no opportunity to move up. Only department Director favorites get full-time, work from home jobs doing nothing.
