Pros

I made lifelong friends. Fun Christmas party. Office shutdown for Christmas. You learn a lot because you're doing the job of 3 people. Brand recognition as a premier CPG company -- looks good on your resume. Nice office.

Cons

Someone in the C-suite MOONED me on my first day on the job. You need more? You have 3 guys running the place who have never had jobs before. They've never had a boss before and they don't know how to be a boss or a leader. This is a marketing company and they are very good at that, including marketing their "culture". Friends and family are hired and given inflated titles and salaries. Boys club mentality. Sexist remarks are rampant, including when a woman gets married or pregnant -- their concern is her impending "time off" for maternity leave and it drives decision making around promotions and opportunities for women. There's no training, your job description is fluid, working every night and weekend is not only expected but necessary to meet unrealistic expectations -- and because everyone does this, you have to as well even if just for optics' sake. HR is powerless and a joke - but make sure you report inappropriate behaviour and treatment just so it's documented. I'm surprised nobody has sued them for sexual harassment or discrimination (or maybe they have!). Pay is very low unless you're one of the "chosen ones" or being imported from the States. If you're a woman hired in a coordinator role, you're never getting promoted, so just get what you can out of this place and run!

Pros

- fun industry - free toys - nice office in downtown Toronto

Cons

- nepotism - those who know the owners get treated better than those who don't. many relatives get "manager" level jobs for doing very little work. you can even get a "manager" job if you play tennis with the owners. - tons of work for no bonus. while the c-suite make tens of millions - has become heartless. many people get fire because upper management tries to blame others for their own failures in leadership. they don't provide enough resources for others to succeed.

Pros

Because you are expected to do everything, you learn a lot.

Cons

Absolute worst work culture, hence an abnormally high attrition rate for employees within their first year. Turnover leads to ever-shifting strategy and planning discussions for projects that never actually make it to execution. Frequently encounter "not my job" syndrome where team's take advantage of the large bureaucracy to evade responsibility. External leaders are hired to be scapegoats for pre-existing organizational issues. Ethical issues are swept under the rug by HR. Impossible to get a word in during a meeting when many in the room just want to hear themselves speak. Senior leaders- shockingly- heed gossip and make decisions and promotions based on it.
