Pros

Your colleagues. Work from home option (but they do threaten to take this away)

Cons

Cracks in upper management filter down the chain. Very poor salaries and a toxic environment

Springer Nature Response

Sorry to read your thoughts after being with the Springer Nature family for over 4 years and I'd like to take time to respond to your points. Our hybrid working policy allows flexibility but also encourages colleagues to come to work to foster a healthy collaborative team culture, learn from each other and build strong relationships. Many of our colleagues enjoy this hybrid working. On training, we have recently launched an enhanced career hub which guides colleagues on ideas to encourage career & talent development; please take a look at this. We do have leadership training and the first phase of this went live this year. In term of salary, we benchmark and reward our colleagues according to our industry and we offer a generous and flexible benefits plan in the UK with other benefits like Workation allowing colleagues to work from another location for 20 days and blend holiday and work.

Pros

Good people that undertake the work Flexible office working Good response to remote work during the COVID pandemic Heavy cloud commitment

Cons

Matrix organization Promotion is based upon length of service rather than capability to do the job, leading to demoralized team members Lip service paid by HR when attempting to raise concerns (e.g. attitude of management, bulling, harassment) Mediocre pay reviews/increases Industry pay review alignment hasn't been completed after almost 18 months - attempts to question this are brushed off by management and HR as "not important to the day to day business" Antiquated systems/technology Resources (time, money, people) are wasted on reinventing old practices rather than a clean sheet approach Most of the senior management have spent their working lives here, and any new ways of working are immediately disregarded as not fit for purpose Accountability by the layers of management is almost none - anything escalated is ignored or generally swept under the carpet.

Pros

I met some great people that I'm still friends with today. Luckily most of them have now escaped this awful company.

Cons

Below average salary, everyone is extremely overworked, it takes 3 months to replace anybody that resigns, no progression and horrid members of senior management that have no idea how to do their jobs.
