Pros

Summer Fridays. Proximity to King's Cross (Underground) and St. Pancras. Diverse and inclusive office.

Cons

Benefits are poor. Flex fund is only 1% of salary which isn't much and barely counts towards the cost of benefits offered. Low salary increases. Not commensurate with experience. Not fairly remunerated for working in London. Salary differences between peers cause a feeling of discord among staff because there is no transparency with pay bands.

Thank you for sharing. Our London based office is in a great location and our culture is and employee networks celebrate difference and create vibrant communities and safe spaces for colleauges who share common experiences and interests. We do review our salaries regularly and like most firms we pay bonuses at year end. In 2022, we announced we would make significant additional payments to over 6,000 employees earning below a certain threshold in high inflation countries, to help with the increased cost of living. The 2nd of two payments was made in 2023. This week, we announced further measures to support our UK colleagues by adjusting our core hours to offer even more flexibility and offering a further one off payment this Summer to support the majority of UK colleagues with travel costs. We want everyone at Springer Nature to feel able to contribute at their best and thrive, helping create an inclusive structures that support equitable opportunities for merit based success.

Pros

Summer Fridays, good vacation time/holidays, great health insurance benefits, hybrid work schedule for most.

Cons

Many departments are short staffed. You will be handling the tasks of multiple roles with no intention of hiring more staff to lighten the load or to increase your pay to match what you do. Work-life balance can be challenging. Talking to HR is of no help as HR is there to serve the company, not the employees.

Thank you for sharing your experiences having been with Springer Nature for more than 20 years. We take all feedback seriously and we want all our colleagues to grow their long term careers with us and, for those who have been with us for sometime, to be clear about what we stand for and have the support to develop and speak up. We gather feedback from employee survey's and our Exec Committee goes through the results with care to identify any topics to be addressed in a global scale. As a result we have taken action and some examples of this is our workation policy, flexible working policy, we have rebranded, added a global career hub for advice and tips for owning career progression and we have several on-going training sessions for global managers. Without knowing the specifics regarding your statement about the Human Resources team, it is difficult to address your comment. However, I can share that HR supports and serves both employees and the company. While they ensure company policies are upheld, they also advocate for employee well-being, address concerns, and work to foster a positive and collaborative work environment.

Thank you for sharing. Our open and ambitious culture gives colleagues space to develop and everything they need to perform at their best. We celebrate success and encourage collaboration and partnership. Surprised to read your thoughts on Career growth as this is something we have invested in and, last year we created an easily accessible Global Careers hub for all colleagues to utilise to keep abreast of new ideas, events and tools to manage and, importantly own, their career progression at Springer Nature. We do regularly review salaries and benchmark to our industry and actually our turnover is quite low and more recently we have seen an uptick in colleagues returning back to Springer Nature.
