      Important Mission, Incompetent Management

      Pros

      Important mission to feed the world. Lots of smart people to work with and interesting science. A global company with opportunities to work with people from across the world.

      Cons

      Some of the worst management I have ever seen. Generally incompetent, particularly middle managers. Some higher level leaders are very good, but lower level managers cannot seem to solve basic problems.

      Good benefits and time off policies.

      Cons

      Looking for a promotion? Good luck. Moving up in the corporate world of Syngenta is nearly never heard of. Also beware of layoffs and other consequences of big money management. Have a track record of letting the good people go and promoting the worthless. If you have an in with a manager, you're good to go in a career with Syngenta.

      Unrestrained nepotism and increased outsourcing keep the company from being what it should be.

      Pay and benefits are generally good; some good, knowledgeable people at the company

      Cons

      Poor performance is rewarded to avoid having to fire employees who are just along for the ride. The company operates more as an oligarchy, with some managers having their own "kingdoms" where cronyism happens often. Poor quality outsourcing is increasingly more common in the company and makes many processes and functions difficult and poorly run.
