      Too much outsourcing which leads to too much self-service

      Pros

      The people in this company are mostly smart, dedicated employees. The benefits are above most other companies, and the idea of the company is worthwhile: feeding the world.

      Cons

      There is too much outsourcing. The outsourced companies are not reliable or effective. We can't be focused on the customer because we spend so much time doing the self-service tasks. While it may be cheaper to pay for people working in India, the soft dollar cost to the Syngenta employees makes it a losing venture. The company is on a downward trend.

      Good Benefits, Good Salaries, but company relies way too much on outsourcing and now recently offshoring in Pune, India

      Pros

      Company does provide excellent benefits and salaries are excellent.

      Cons

      Way too much outsourcing/offshoring. Stockprice and Shareholder approval more important than employees. Long term job stability is in question, especially in the IT area. Employees are seen as costs by the company rather than as assets and resources.

      Excellent Colleagues Management and staff come across as generally passion and believe in the importance and impact of their work of "feeding the world" Open and Collaborative culture

      Cons

      Difficult for progression for mid-level management. Lack of transparency. More dependent on your network and connections. Need to focus on helping the countries to do their jobs rather than meeting the needs of global stakeholders.
