Pros

A good reason to work at TJ Maxx is that the management and staff are highly dedicated to providing a safe and healthy work environment for their employees and customers. It is a job that allows the employee to remain active in the workplace, without getting dirty or straining themself too hard.

Cons

The greatest downside of working at TJ MAXX was the amount of hours I could work in a week. Most weeks would be 4-8 hours, and some weeks I wouldn't be scheduled for work at all. A 20 hour work week was unheard of for new employees like me. I would deffinitely reccomend having a second job if you intend to work full time or even part time.

Pros

The management is helpful with schedule flexibility and the employees get a ten percent discount on purchases made at any of the TJX stores.

Cons

They have a "trial by fire" type of cross-training of jobs. I started as a seasonal employee and things were already very busy in the store, but I felt ineffectual at times. I was also made to feel that asking questions was a sign that I couldn't handle a job.

Pros

In my area: the pay is GREAT (starting off at $9/hour). Flexible shifts "Family" feeling/comraderie between staff 10% associate discount Always getting to know what is in style a.s.a.p. (if that is important to you) If you're full time, you get great benefits and paid vacation It is easy to advance in your career as long as you put effort into your work and care about the store.

Cons

Rude/ridiculous customers Deadlines you have to meet that are sometimes unrealistic Business during holidays Sometimes management can be a real pain and totally forget what it's like to work in non-management jobs Customers "trashing" the store and then it's "your fault" Overall, there are not really downsides of working for TJ MAXX-- it's usually customers that put a damper on my day.
