Pros

They have very nice buildings.

Cons

Management is rarely around to manage. Because of that the on site leadership is poor and treats people poorly unless you are favored for random reasons that are selective and not always based upon performance. As a rule, there is no feedback and poor communication. Advancement is by "last man standing" and not based upon ability to manage others effectively. It is also not what you know but who you know. Bullying by management is common and time off is nonexistent. As another person indicated, employees are treated like bugs. CIGNA is also using an overwhelming number of temporary workers to handle patient information and telephone inquiries instead of hiring direct employees and they have a recent history of outsourcing and layoffs. Health benefit coverage is some of the poorest health insurance coverage in the entire city as well as in the entire industry. They only offer HRA or HSA plans. I would recommend finding another company if for no other reason than the health insurance stinks and this is a health insurance company who could well afford to offer decent coverage to their employees. If you are married, make sure your spouse has a job with better coverage and take that. If you are single or a single parent, prepare to be poor if you have an illness that requires any significant amount of medical care. Time off is hard to get and the potential for advancement is nil. I started out excited and motivated ending up unchallenged and disillusioned.

Pros

Salary fair, only select get bonuses though Work desk ergonomics are outstanding and well thought out On site nurse practitioner; wonderful benefit

Cons

Work place bullying. Orientation not job specific, basic overview of company policy Unqualified leadership. Does not embrace change or cultural differences. HR is for company benefit, not employee. Outright lying to your face from managers

Pros

-Remote work flexibility -Ability to take brief absences for appointments without using PTO -Supportive and collaborative peers -Originally had an excellent, supportive manager (before frequent team reorganizations)

Cons

-Excessive micromanagement to the point of undermining professional judgment -Constantly shifting goals and policies, often without clear communication -Inaccurate performance metrics and often unrealistic expectations -Frequent team reorganizations leading to instability and poor continuity in leadership -Toxic work environment fueled by constant rumors of layoffs and punitive consequences -Assessments overloaded with unnecessary questions resulting in frustrated customers and obstructing real medical support -Case managers often mistaken for insurance representatives and subjected to verbal abuse -Salaried position with unspoken expectation to work unpaid overtime to keep up with the workload -Minimal real regard for work-life balance -Final assigned manager was the worst I’ve worked under: frequently missed or rescheduled meetings, lacked knowledge to answer basic questions, and provided no real support which was seemingly to blame for the high turnover on the team
