Not a good place to work

Pros

The building is right next to Union Station. Employees many talented people. Company has bring your kid to work days & even allows working days from home.

Cons

No clear direction from senior management, bickering among all departments, problems are like hot potatoes, no one wants to own them. Application teams & business have all the power, they hardly ever get the hot potato. Enterprise Architecture teams do not own solutions. Infrastructure teams are order takers. Incidents often come in bunches, people get burned out quickly when on support. Company uses talent & throws it out like an old pair of shoes. Don't go here if you are looking to grow both personally & professionally.

Pros

Revenue and Billing Manager is the heart and soul of the department. 18 years of experience and out lasting management changes. Department staff are team oriented. Management still needs to get to know staff and their functions.

Cons

Recent changes at Corporate and Department level have not been the best! HSBC management style isn't working. Need more industry knowledge and processes. Corporate processes somestimes not country specific.

Brown Nosing=Survival

Pros

Line managers and below are cooperative, hard-working, and care a lot about the company's success.

Cons

Review post by VP Strategy & Planning is a common appeasement behavior (aka brown nosing) for the sake of survival. Sad but true as re-org's are rampant but it's funny the re-org doesn't happen as much on the top of the pyramid in the International corporate side.
