Pros

They give a store discount.

Cons

Working for Ulta as a Salon Manager was difficult under the best circunstances. The company doesn't understand the relationship between the client and the stylist, and therefore provides no privacy between the actual store and the client in the salon. The atmosphere is a very well made Great Clips, but with very high prices. Clients don't tend to return because they don't connect with their stylists. They provide no receptionists and no waiting area. As the salon manager, you are held to a weekly quota of services, plus a week's worth of paperwork. If you try to offer any suggestions as to why this set up isn't working, you are branded as no being a "team player". It is all work and no reward. The salary is low- 34,000, and they find every reason they can not to give you a raise. I have nearly 30 years of experience as a hairdresser behind the chair, and I have owned my own salon and this company ground me right down in a litle more than 2 years. Their expectations are unresonable. I don't know who is advising them for running their salons, but I think I'd switch.

Pros

Gratis Employee Discount Employee Appreciation/Friends and Family Discount

Cons

Working closely with almost all or all females causes serious drama Management often play favorites and will make you feel uncomfortable/not wanted Hardly any opportunity for advancement Too many and often ridiculous rules, particularly pertaining to dress code Limitations of power for everyone, especially cashiers, lead cashiers, and key holders If sales goals are not met, hours are cut, which makes it difficult to improve sales or complete tasks General unhappiness among many employees Big brother complex - Cameras are everywhere and everything you do is seen No full-time opportunities unless you are a manager (not a key holder) or as a stylist, if you make and exceed commission for the first three months of employment Terrible benefits plan Managers meetings that are held are to discuss other employees - Doesn't seem fair

Pros

Lots of great products to work with, beautiful store, interesting people.

Cons

Employee discount stinks (Customers often have same discount passes), Promised great benefits yet didnt explain it takes years to qualify unless you are a manager. Optional buy in insurance is a joke for coverage. With so many diffierent managers everyone tells you different things and its completely chaotic. Salon ppl Often pulled off the floor to stock boxes and unload trucks. Brand new store for 6 months, not one staff meeting yet!
