Would not recommend for outside experts

Pros

Remote options; decent benefits; many friendly people; company has been around for 200+ years; doing best to scale down and focus on important revenue-generating business lines

Cons

Over the last two years I’ve noticed Wiley hire a lot of technical experts from the outside who have come in and created/fixed a ton of issues for this antiquated company …. Only to then be laid off without any real reason other than budget cuts, and then those seasoned veterans / experts get replaced by “Wiley lifers” who are not qualified to be in the new role they get promoted into. It’s evident there is a lot of the good-ol-boy-club syndrome going on behind the scenes. The company values time with Wiley over performance and results. Would not recommend to anyone who is a real expert in their field that likes to innovate from the outside. It’s not a big enough or prestigious enough company to waste your time with.

Management Disconnected

Pros

The most dedicated group of colleagues I've ever worked with.

Cons

Constant reorganizations. Management who is implementing "fixes", making the rules and decisions have absolutely no idea what is needed on the ground. Such a lack of understanding of what is best for clients and employees is unfortunate.

Good benefits but thats about it...

Pros

The company provides good benefits with a high company paid percentage, the PTO policy is sufficient and good for management level and the company does seem to put some effort and care behind managing employees mental health with additional time off and opportunities for self care with a good home/ work life balance.

Cons

Unfortunately the pay is low, raises are insignificant and not on trend with the industry standards or performance. They also tell you that you'll get a bonus rate each year, but when it comes down to it after all their "multipliers" you only get a small percentage of what the bonus structure actually is. This is even when you are determined to have achieved all your goals for the year. Additionally they say there is room for advancement and that managers are there to help you with your career path but it's all just talk. There is no effort or action behind this so you'll either stay stuck in the same job for years or you'll be moved around through no fault of your own but only with company restructuring needs, despite how it may affect you directly.
