Friendly people, compensation could be way better

Pros

The work/life balance is good. Generally speaking, I have really nice colleagues. The company is trying to move into the 21st century with more digital publishing initiatives. Benefits are quite good and employees are encouraged to take advantage of training opportunities. In years that the company does really well, bonuses can be great.

Cons

The bureacracy is horrible--it takes forever to get something done. Top management can be so tight-fisted, it takes forever to get necessary upgrades made. Advancement for women into the top managerial ranks is so bad, even the new CEO was forced to address it during company meetings after complaints were made. Pay isn't all that great compared to similar companies and raises are awful--the longer you stay, the worse the salary situation gets. Full bonuses almost never fully happen because required targets are often inflated. Advancement opportunities are limited.

Pros

Wiley is a place where you don't really have to bring your A game...you can skirt by on being average for a really long time. there is strong recognition of work life balance, as evidenced by how hard it is to get an elevator at quitting time.

Cons

Low pay, job titles below your peers in similar jobs in other companies, low to no salary increases, and forget about that promotion you think you want.
