      great culture, interesting work

      Pros

      Yummly has a great friendly culture and often feels like a family. There are some very smart and talented people here. There are a lot of interesting data science and AI problems to work on (NLP, computer vision, search, recommendations) and a lot of opportunities to collaborate and have ideas turn into products. Yummly is in a really interesting position with an opportunity to disrupt the kitchen.

      Cons

      There are many opportunities in the smart kitchen space. While this can be exciting, Yummly would benefit from being more focussed on a few things.

      A great bunch of ambitious but friendly people

      Pros

      - High amount of trust in employees to do what is right by them and the company - Flexible schedule to deal with life stuff when needed - Little office politics, I've never felt scared to voice concerns or skepticism. - Lots of healthy discussions about code - Usual office stuff, great snack/drink selection, 2/week catered lunches, etc.

      Cons

      - Tribal knowledge is definitely a thing at Yummly - Not sure there's room to grow career-wise

Core values such as transparency, communication, and big bets are all about employees actively participating and having direct impact on the organization's success. We are glad you see that happening everyday. We care about the growth of our employees and are actively working on developing a career development plan and hope to implement it in the near future. We also hope to breakdown the "tribal knowledge" and bring all employees up to speed on institutional knowledge more quickly and move away from too many acronyms. Additionally, this year we have worked to get more focus on initiatives rather than take on too much. We will continue to work on this.

      Pros

      Great place to work. Colleagues are truly friendly. I really like all the opportunities that I get here, to work on ambitious projects. Amazing work life balance, and free food twice a week.

      Cons

      Competition is the most important challenge that Yummly is facing.
