Pros

Whirlpool has a lot of money to spend on benefits like bonuses and cash prizes for internal contests. Appliance discounts are nice for homeowners. HR tries to be very friendly and inclusive, but it comes off as patronizing and childish. It also doesn't help company morale that they use firing (or 'disappearing') people regularly as a tactic.

Cons

Huge turnover, especially of smart and motivated people. Many of the old-timers are so entrenched they feel secure in their social position and will never leave. There is more focus on getting bonuses and perks than serving the customers. Complete lack of understanding of the user and their needs. A lot of money is burned on ridiculous marketing efforts to promote a product full of obvious holes. Lots of gimmicky efforts that don’t last long beyond their release. Lack of leadership, though CEO is very self-congratulatory and cringe. He takes the rating on GlassDoor as an ego exercise and asks employees for positive reviews at company meetings. Executives are like a high-school clique and you will do better if they like you (less chance of becoming a scapegoat). Product team is inexperienced and grasping at straws.

Pros

The people at Yummly are passionate, focused, and smart. We have some ambitious initiatives this year and the team is determined to knock it out of the park. Every person I work with has great intention, is open to new ideas, and makes me have fun at work!

Cons

Yummly's culture thrives when we are in person. Working from home during Covid has been challenging for our culture.

Pros

I worked at Yummly for a long time. The team is now stronger than ever, full of outstanding professionals in every role, and very well led. There a new product line (the smart thermometer) that's doing very well in the market, and the core products are growing as well. A lot of interesting projects in the pipeline and a lot of room for people to grow. The new office in San Carlos is spectacular and will be open as soon as Covid allows.

Cons

The usual 2020 challenges: remote work, etc. We've managed through it so far. Food is still a challenging domain, but there's traction in multiple areas. No big cons, Yummly is a great place to work.
