Pros
There aren't many pros. But if you wanna be worked like a dog for 40+ hours a week you get the hours. I worked there for a year and never got less than 35 hours a week. And Bennefits are available for fulltimers
Cons
I'm not gonna complain about the hard work, long hours or being on your feet all day. Cause that stuff just comes with retail. Management is disgusting, absolutely repulsive the way they treat their staff. I worked at a new store from opening and the management that was thrown in there got about a week of training with a background in being a shoe store manager. Most of the staff got more training and was with the company longer then them. None of them had a clue what they were doing and made rules up along the way. Instead of listening to someone under them who may have had the answer. The power trip is ridiculous. Scheduling is terrible on many occasions people were scheduled on days they booked off, weren't available or only got the first and last day of their vacation off; there was a few times people were scheduled to work while on vacation. I got a text while I was out of the country changing my shift for the next day. Schedule changes happen at least 5 times a day. Guaranteed every persons schedule changes once a week. There have been staff with injuries and illnesses that management told them they were an inconvenience. Human resources has been called numerous times by many of the staff and has done absolutely nothing. Head office doesn't care about the staff. They care about the sales and the way the store looks they don't acknowledge you unless you are management, which is very hard to move up into although they say the company has a lot of room for growth. You are promised a position but keep getting told you have to work harder for it, for 9 months I was doing a job that I wasn't getting paid for, I had much more responsibility but no compensation. I was not the only one this happened to. The gossip is horrible and you would think it would be with the part timers that are still in high school right? Nope. It's management that talks badly about the staff to either other members of management or the higher staff. If anyone makes a mistake management calls them out over the walky talkie for all staff to hear. It's embarrassing and happened almost daily. It's impossible to balance a life while working at Zara. You have a day off and people are calling you asking you questions. I dreamed about being at work. The customers are brutal I've been beaten down as a human being way too many times for following rediculoua policies that managers don't back you up on but punish you if you don't follow them. If you have a problem with management and you confide in another manager it is taken as gossip and you get a written warning. A close family friend of mine was in the store and over hear a manager yelling at an employee and said it was supper inappropriate to do that where customers can see and hear. I was sick one day and management called my mom (who I don't even live with) and was extremely rude to her. Every thing about this place is rediculous. The turn over rate is so high for a reason. Anyways I could go on but I better not
