This is the situation in art department now:
A group has formed which comprises of people joined from the same previous company. They have played enough politics with a particular art-director to position themselves on key positions, and have effectively stopped the growth of any other artists whom they regarded as a threat to their political moves. They have also got to screen new recruits, which resulted in joining more people exclusively from their previous place, and from their friend-circle. This group has effectively stopped a lot of quality talent from joining the company to make room for their own people. As a result the art-quality has been declining at an alarming rate, and its obviously noticeable on the recent games that got transitioned to India-studio. Its a common complaint for the rest of the artists that only these group has career growth and benefits. All these happened in a time span of 2-3 years. Quite recently this group has been given quick managerial training and they all got promoted to manager levels ignoring the concerns from a number of others. This is favouritism and the success off lobbying and politics over skill. It is obviously reflected in the overall art quality across many games.
