Pros

BP is a global company with international scope. There are opportunities to do many different things. In the last couple of years, the strategy at BP was changed to pursue renewables and move away from Oil. If that is your thing, enjoy.

Cons

BP tends to send many jobs offshore and that trend will continue. They are also moving to automate many processes. Reducing headcount is a strategy at BP. It can often feel heartless and sterile to see people who have devoted many years in service to the company to be quietly laid off. There are many who see a downward trend at BP in terms of future earnings potential given that they intend to move away from Oil. This is a concern for both investors and employees.

Pros

Benefits are decent on top of base

Cons

Toxic culture, limited progression. Have a tendency to micromanage and encourage bad behaviour. Leadership promotes inexperienced people to bully downwards in order to get work done. Very very toxic

Pros

Good employee benefits. Management appear to take diversity and inclusion seriously on the face of it. The company obviously have access to a lot of financial power which means you get to work on some huge potentially industry shifting projects.

Cons

Too many marketing types here. They talk the talk but many have no substance or real experience behind them. Some are deluded to the point of believing their own BS. Unfortunately it is the people who BS the most that get ahead. Bit of a yes culture. Don't try to say anything negative about anyone's project. It is not the done thing... Everything is great. Obvious that in many areas there is still an old boys network. Very evident in the recent re-org of the whole of BP. Some people so clearly given promotions or entirely new job roles because they were friends with the right people.
