I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Cengage (Boston, MA) in Jul 2015
Interview
I applied online had a phone interview and then two hours of in person interviews--30 minutes each with four people from the team I would be working with, one of whom I had already had the phone interview with. They each told me about their role on the team and how my role would interact with theirs. They were all very friendly and easy to talk to.

Interview
I set up the interview and got to pick day of the week and time of day. I had six interviews back to back over 3 hours. There was no break, but I did have access to water to drink. The interviews took place in two rooms: first one in an office and the next five in a conference room. One of the interviewing employees called in using the conference room telephone system. I had the chance to meet the managers I would work for and employees currently in the role I interviewed for. The process was very professional and great: everyone I spoke with had positive things to say about Cengage and each showed genuine interest in my resume, responses to questions, and ideas. Most of the questions were about my resume. Interviewers had copies with annotations and asked about prior experiences in my work. There was ample time for my own questions. It was a great model of what an interview process should be: quick, focused on the candidate, and focused on finding a great fit for the role. Culture at Cengage was discussed, but my feeling was that the real intention was identifying "fit" with job duties more than with peers.
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Cengage (Boston, MA) in May 2015
Interview
I first met with the hiring manager and a few other members of the team. It overall was a fairly standard interview, asking about my background but no detailed technical questions. They responded well to my background, but preferred someone with more experience with back-end databases. I found it disappointing that they asked no technical questions.
