I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Nasdaq (Sydney) in Sep 2022
Interview
Initial intro with Philippines-based talent team to describe the process. A few days later long interview with hiring manager from Dubai. Conducted late at night Australian time. The role reported to the hiring manager who'd been in the company for many years and who described that the Agile Product Delivery Lead is a newly created role. Despite the job description, the manager described as a largely BA role. The company had recently adopted agile. Generic questions about role of Business Analyst and Product Owner. Questions about what is to be done if an error slips through into the final product.
Following that a role-playing exercise. It was expected that I, as a provider of trading solution provider, interrogate the 'customer' to reach a set of requirements. In my opinion, scenario was immature and narrowly focused on a specific application and had not considered on the broader data flows, data privacy & protection, regulatory and security requirements pertinent to capital markets. Such IT systems don't work in isolation and business features are linked to firms revenue streams/risk systems/reporting/surveillance systems -- which I explored in the exercise.
No feedback after the interview. The talent team kept saying they'd report back once there is a result.
A few weeks after interview, was informed of the rejection. No reasons given.
Only when I asked I was informed of that it was my BA skills!!!! Found it strange as that's one of the things I've done in the exchange-side trading space for 20+ years and my ex-customers reach out to me even after having left those roles.
Having hired people, I find it's important to feedback quickly -- one knows pretty immediately if you are going further with a candidate or not. There's no need to hold back informing them asap.
