I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Okta (San Francisco, CA) in Apr 2015
Interview
2 Phone screens, neither were started on time. The technical interview was more than 15 minutes late and was very rushed. Over all, there wasn't very much information discovery at all.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Okta (San Francisco, CA) in May 2016
Interview
I had two phone screens. One was with a manager, one was with a potential colleague. The phone screen led to an on-site.
The on-site was pretty random. I felt like I was having beers or hanging out with friends. No technical questions. Very conversational 30 minute chat.
The thing you have to do is sell them on the skillset. They will not ask you directly. Don't go along with the friendly talk. That's not what they are looking for. They want you to tell them what skills you have.
Also, some of the interviewers are clearly unprepared and not skilled at interviewing while others are very fine-tuned into how things should go.
The bottom line is that everyone is really nice and cool, but make sure you go in there with a strong technical selling point....Because that's what they want.

I didn't really look at your resume. Tell me about yourself.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Okta (San Francisco, CA) in Jul 2015
Interview
It all seemed very disorganized and poorly planned. Spoke to three people on three separate occasions, two of them had to reschedule the day of. Basic sales questions. The second person I spoke too seemed very uninterested and didn't ask many questions at all. Seemed like she didn't care.
