I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Penguin Random House (New York, NY) in Aug 2019
Interview
Initial phone screen followed by an in person interview in the Manhattan office. It was a pretty laid back interview. The building is massive with multiple imprints and the lobby was very cool - filled with books and bookshelves. Everyone I interacted with during the process was friendly and polite and they sent me an email to let me know I did not get the position just over a week after the in person interview.

Interview
Applied online and received an email from a recruiter to schedule a phone interview. I set up a time to speak with her and she never called me. We rescheduled the call for another date/time and she also never called me. I followed up via email hoping to reschedule it again and she never responded. Overall, it was a very unprofessional and disrespectful experience to me as I took time out of my work day both times to speak with her.
I first had a phone interview, then about a week later I was asked for an in-person interview in New York. Towards the end of the interview, I was given a book to read and write a marketing plan for as well as creating a press release for it. I had about a week to read and complete these projects.
