I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Penguin Random House (New York, NY) in Aug 2015
Interview
Interview process was pretty standard. Started with one of the surprise HR calls-turned-interview and was quickly asked back to interview. Met with three people in person and all were very nice, descriptive of the position and company. The only disappointing part of this process, which is why I rated it neutral, was because although they promised to get back to me and never followed up. I followed up twice--weeks apart--but never got a definitive answer and was then ignored.

Question 1
The questions were pretty standard. One was "What frustrates you?" which I thought was clever. Overall no trick questions.

Interview
Applied online, had a response within 2 days inviting me to meet the head of design.
We had an informal chat and look through my portfolio. I was then invited to a formal interview with head of design and someone from HR.
After about a week, I was invited to another interview with the head of design and a more senior member of the team, and had to complete some work ahead of the interview to present to them.
