I applied online. The process took 3 months. I interviewed at Shopify (Ottawa, ON) in Dec 2014
Interview
First I attended a hiring party, then I made a shop online. My first interview was more of a get to know me. No typical interview questions. After this I was given more 'homework'. I went online to answer peoples questions. After this I did the 'gauntlet'. A 1/2 day of tests to do with guru duties. (answering example questions etc) And then the second half of the day I spent shadowing a guru. The process took FOREVER.

Question 1
They wanted me to talk about what I did in high school.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Shopify (Ottawa, ON) in Jan 2017
Interview
The interview started with a casual, one hour Skype conversation. I had obviously heard very good things about Shopify, so I found that I was nervous going in simply because I had a vested interest in getting the job.
After about five minutes, those nerves were gone. It really was just a conversation. Let them know who you are and don't expect any "where do you see yourself in five years" questions.
After that, I was contacted for 'The Gauntlet'. It's tough, but I found that after going on the Shopify forums and trying to answer real merchants questions, I was more than prepared. You're not going to be able to answer everything, but if you put effort into preparing I found it really showed. Make sure you find out how to embed a little bit of code ;).
I applied online. The process took 3 days. I interviewed at Shopify (Toronto, ON) in Sep 2016
Interview
First requirement in job application is creating your own shopify store which takes time. First online interview was a casual discussion with one of the senior gurus. Just be yourself and don't stress about this one. The second stage known as Gauntlet is an open book kind of test where you have to provide solutions to questions asked by customers by looking at info available online. Some preparation is required for this step. I would say overall the process is too tedious for the amount of people they reject, but if you do get hired then it is worth it.
