I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Shopify (Toronto, ON) in Jul 2016
Interview
They told me it wasn't like a typical interview and there weren't any trick questions. The recruiter asked me to tell my "life story" and I thought that was rather vague, but obviously done purposefully. It was mostly strange and felt a little fake, like "hey we're so cool and we're gonna judge you on how cool we think you are" kind of vibe. Recruiter was late every single time and once I waited a full 30 minutes for her to call me back. I think this "let's have a conversation" interview instead of the traditional question-answer format interview is a little disconcerting.
I applied online. I interviewed at Shopify (Montreal, QC) in Apr 2016
Interview
The whole process took more than 3 months, which is too long for just one interview.
I applied on the website. I got an e-mail about longtime after (about 6 weeks) to schedule an interview at their location. 3 weeks after that I met 2 people. It lasts about less than 1 hour and they gave me a feedback one month later.
They told me they were looking for someone with more experiences but if they had seen my resume they would know I couldn't match to their position. I know they screen all the resumes so it sounded like my junior experience wasn't just the reason to reject my application.
Please be more transparent, it's better for both sides.

I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Shopify (Ottawa, ON) in Apr 2016
Interview
After applying online, I was invited to a large networking-type event where I chatted with several employees. After that I received an email to come in and "have a conversation" with a Talent Acquisition team member. This was about an hour long. After that, I was emailed to come in again and meet a few team members. I came in and met 4 different people over 4 hours - pretty much 4 1-hr conversations. I was told at the end I would hear from them in a week regarding the "next step." After not hearing for almost 2 weeks I emailed. The next day I recurred a phone message stating "they were moving forward with other candidates."
