Interview
The interview process with Shopify is incredibly unique, and definitely unlike any other company I have ever personally experienced in the tech world. Shopify keeps things interesting, challenging, and fun ... which makes for a rewarding experience!
I think there is some misinformation floating around on Glassdoor about how Shopify decides who will be brought on to the team; yes, the interview is informal but no, this does not mean you should not prepare like you would for other interviews! I never once got the impression that they made a decision solely on whether they "liked me or not", and once you get further into the hiring process, you begin to understand just how important it is that they hire the right people; the decision to bring each person aboard is not one they take lightly, and it does not mean you are insufficient as a person, but rather, that they were able to identify you may not be the most suitable candidate for this role (you will be the "face" of the company after all).
The number one piece of advice I can give to everyone interviewing is to prepare, prepare, prepare! Research the company's values and understand why they are important, familiarize yourself with some of Shopify's features, and make a list of questions that pop into your brain as you are navigating through their platform.
Let you personality shine bright like a diamond, as Rihanna says, through every step of the process. Pretend you are talking to an old friend in your Life Story, be personable during the Gauntlet (and as resourceful as possible), and let the Squad Lead develop a good sense of your character and your willingness to commit to the company.
I was a little nervous after reading a few of the negative toned reviews on here, but I had the complete opposite experience! Every person I interacted with at Shopify was absolutely amazing and so helpful, which made the hiring process even more enjoyable. The entire process took about 1 month, but I received an offer yesterday and I AM SO EXCITED! If you are committed to becoming apart of the Shopify team, it will be well worth the effort when you receive an offer :)

Interview
Super relaxing and chill. Like meeting a new friend over Skype. Just be yourself is truly key here! The interview lasts about an hour and then you move on to the Guantlet stage.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Shopify in Sep 2017
Interview
Hiring process involves creating a trial store, a video and submitting a resume. Once they set up a "life story" interview, it all comes down to whether or not the person interviewing actually likes you - not actual job experience. As other reviewers have stated, it's more of a "friend" interview which in my opinion is quite unprofessional.
Should you pass the "friend" interview, then you would move onto "the gauntlet" which is a 2 hour test to see how well you cope under pressure completing simulated customer scenarios .
