I applied through a recruiter. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at Zynga (San Francisco, CA) in May 2012
Interview
Talk about mixed messages. I was contacted out of the blue by a recruiter about the position. After some email exchange we set up a time to chat and had a really interesting conversation about the position. I was told I was being sent to the next round and we set up a time to talk with a team member on the phone. That time came and went. I emailed the recruiter asking to reschedule. That time came and went. I emailed a third time and got no response from the recruiter. I emailed a fourth time and still no response.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Zynga (Seattle, WA)
Interview
Since I had a friend inside, they fast-tracked my application and I got a brief skype interview with a recruiter. A week after I got a on-site interview (had to wait since I was out of the country). I interviewed with a lot of the leads, but unfortunately a couple couldn't make it, so I had to come in again for a 2nd round of interviews. A week after I received an offer.

Question 1
There were a bit of technical questions, including bit manipulation, string manipulation, and class design. The best resource IMHO is Programming Interviews Exposed.
