Ok perks and looks great on your resume

Pros

Perks are ok. Free breakfast, lunch, and dinner. However, the food options are not varied and dietary restrictions / allergies are not taken into account. You also receive a quarterly $500 travel "coupon" to use towards an Airbnb listing. The people that work here are extremely friendly and it truly is more like having a second family than having "co-workers".

Cons

Compensation is NOT competitive and raises (or even cost of living increases) are few and far between. Positions that warrant a salary of $120,000 at other bay area tech startups, only receive about $60,000 at Airbnb. Many people (including myself) have had to take a significant pay cut. Essentially this means that Airbnb is not good for the long term, but alternatively is a great short term option to buff up your resume. Working at Airbnb is pretty much like belonging to a cult. If you don't fit it (introverts specifically) you will not succeed. Promotions are not given to the people that are the best fit for the position, but are given to the person that spends the most time socializing outside of work. Also, work life balance is practically non-existent.

Pros

- Free-flow of healthy snacks, regular supply of fruit cups, salads and drinks - Free breakfasts and lunches - Grow/other developmental classes available dependent on managers' approval - Medical and other healthcare benefits, RSUs given

Cons

- Very poor leadership and professionalism displayed -- for instance, young managers who are rigid and do not know what is people-management, do not walk the talk, unrealistic expectations and not constructive feedback for career development - Very messy internal structure and unclear distribution of workload (everyone was aware what's wrong but nobody was doing anything about it even though the problem is crucial for day-to-day work) - Favouritism and politics played and some showed no qualms about this because of their 'rank' - Unclear and slow career progression path, even accessing data university classes for personal growth need to take up to a year to do so - Not exactly a flat hierarchy or open culture as promoted, really dependent on managers

Pros

15 days work from home/year $500 coupon every quarter

Cons

- Underpaid (average of €7k less than other tech companies in Dublin). - Poor management, claims to be "on the same boat" but not taking into consideration employees feedback and refusing to answer questions about salary increase among others. More and more people leaving the company who've been employees for more than 2 years, doesn't seem to bother management as still not asking themselves any actions. - No career opportunities if you don't have the right connections (seriously, forget it!) - No work-life balance, especially if you're in Customer Support. - No pension. - Know that if you are a Customer Support, you are at the bottom of the scale and other teams and management will make sure to look at you from above. - So.Many.Meetings - Free food but if you're vegan or don't eat dairy/meat, nothing apart from the salad bar will work for you. - Management will take all your energy, have you work on various projects without giving you any recognition or even, in some cases, take ownership of your projects and without any credits for you.
