Extremely high pressure during specific times of the year. It is hard to maintain CAGR when you are selling cigs. Use HR as a strategic asset and not a necessary evil... let them do what they say on their tin. Most of it is just smoke and mirrors. Not on purpose, mind you - but "people are our biggest asset" has to be said in today's environment. It feels like an empty statement. The phrase often is left in the dust b/c $$ comes first. People, as a topic, is always last to be discussed. Leaders get ahead b/c they delivered the numbers - with no regard to the type of People Leader they are.

Policies and practices are good on paper, but not always followed through. A lot of time is spent on talent management without a visible benefit from it. Line management can be a hit and miss: some are good and some just manage upwards.
