Pros

Salary, work-life balance, remote work

Cons

One of the worst engineering cultures I've encountered in my entire career. Incompetence, nepotism, micromanagement, false promises, and incredibly poor engineering standards. Managed by people who worked there for decades, seen nothing beyond it, and mostly care about visibility (meaning speaking loud, reason being a secondary concern) and "tech leads" with 3-4 years of experience (one becomes a lead based on location, but it has to be US).

Pros

Developers get a lot of flexibility in technology choices. Decisions related to software solutions are made by the (small) development teams. Managers are eager to protect developers from outside pressures and promote work/life balance.

Cons

Higher up the org, legacy-Bayer is used to pushing architectural decisions down from the top. Large infrastructure decisions seem to come from nowhere causing months of work, or pushback. The technical proficiency of my peers is hit or miss.
