Pros

Big Fish Games is simply a fun place to work. The culture is very friendly, collaborative, and overall positive. As expected from a gaming company it's nerdy, in a good way, and the people here are definitely passionate. Good vibes. It's also currently remote-friendly, although the company is looking to focus their hiring on specific locations so it may not stay that way for long. The pay is not amazing compared to tech in general, but that's pretty common in gaming companies, and the benefits as a whole are great. Overall, it's a very fun place to work, and it's pretty much free of the crunch that happens in so many other gaming companies.

Cons

Big Fish Games has recently undergone several rounds of layoffs in the span of a few months. Although these rounds were part of the latest wave of layoffs that hit the whole tech and gaming industries, it isn't the first time this has happened in the past few years. Combine that with low pay increases and pretty long promotion times, and you don't get the sense that this is the best place for career development. The company has also struggled to decide if it wants to focus on being a publisher or try its hand at being a studio.

Pros

Game and QA teams work well together to meet goals and create fun products.

Constant changes in management and creative direction make goals impossible to meet.

Out of touch C-level execs

Recommend
Business Outlook

Pros

Office was kind of nice There used to be opportunity for travel

Cons

Lots of fly-by-night executives would come in and talk a big game about doing something, then it would fall on the actual people who did work to do it. Then there was no acknowledgement when something was done, or it would fail, and that exec was onto their next high paid "gig". The execs that did stick around were an impenetrable clique-y grossly-overpaid group. Several literally had yachts. New ideas almost always fell on deaf ears. Now it's mostly a zombie company that's rusting out.
