Pros

Everyone that works at Binance is exceptionally passionate about the industry and dedicate so much of their time and effort to help the industry. The company culture is hugely inspirational. The work is always a challenging which is good for people that like to remain engaged and don't like to cruise through the day.

Cons

The work/life balance suffers a little. However, this is mostly due to employee choice. Many Binance employees are incredibly passionate about this industry and Binance that they work long hours, sacrificing personal life. Everyone is free to come and go whenever they please, however, most stay longer than expected to help make a difference.

Atrocious Experience

Pros

- Decent bonuses if you are lucky enough to have a manager that recognizes your efforts - The only non-Chinese manager I had before leaving the company was decent and more like the managers I've had in previous companies

Cons

- Horrible internal organization - Explicit and implicit discrimination against non-Chinese speakers - Zero Transparency - Managers take all the credit but are horrible at contextualizing tasks and blame their engineers for lack of context and communication - Managers are completely absent and have no knowledge of the details for projects you are working on, yet expect everything to be solved, without understanding limitations - Coworkers are not eager to help each other out. You have to exhibit Sherlock Holmes like abilities to gather the information you need to complete tasks - Seniors are snobbish and focus on very dumb, minute details in code when the "world is on fire" - Employees are switched and changed within the organization like they are chess pieces - I saw tons of families forced to relocate, and even separated across countries even though Binance allegedly advertises global work flexibility. The ad I responded to was for the Netherlands and they sent me to Dubai - After two years of being there I never got a promotion, even though I consecutively got bonuses and a raise. After a year of hard work and grinding to fix their systems with no teammates they switched my manager three weeks before the evaluation cycle - I quit to get another job that pays me 5x what they paid me - If you value your sanity and are an English speaking developer then consider yourself warned

Pros

- If you get in before 2020/2021 - If you know senior management directly - If you are used to mainland Chinese management style - If you are willing to work the moments you wake up to the moments you sleep - If you are lucky and placed in special projects - If you don’t mind your benefits getting cut quarter after quarter

Cons

The only good part is we do hire some good and talented people. But fully remote work is never going to work for a company with 7K employees. With the crazy high turnovers and non-stop “rightsizing” (yes Managment actually dare to rephrase it like this in front of everyone), I won’t be surprise if the quality of the company and its people drops like a cliff in the next 24 months.

Over the past 6 years, Binance has experienced significant growth. As we chart our course for the future, just like any other organization, we must evaluate whether we are optimizing all our teams internally. This was a business decision in response to the challenging external regulatory and market environment, our need to drive more efficiency, and to prepare for the next bull run. We are truly grateful for your contributions and we hope we can lean on your expertise again in the future.
