Pros

-Great healthcare -Nice offices -Some really great managers -Some really interesting projects with real impact -Feedback culture that, in the best of circumstances, helps you grow/develop quickly

Cons

-Some really terrible managers -Some really boring projects with unclear scope or questionable impact -Feedback culture that, on average, is not well-executed and leads to anxiety/kills confidence -Work/life balance, especially if you are in TMT or TA -Staffers that care more about billability than your learning and development

Pros

Sparking water, points, trips, Friday lunches

Cons

Obsession with Powerpoint, live and die by "scores." Very little interest in solving client problems, dubious analysis, dissappointd by aptitude of colleagues. Seems like art majors would do best here. First case I was told I was being "hazed" because they didn't like me and wanted me to quit. I reported this to management, and was told that I had to stick with the same team for 3 months. I would come client side at 8 AM and leave at 10 PM, whether there was work or not, I was just required to be on-site for 14 hours a day. I took a substantial pay-cut to come to BCG and they were not interested in negotiating. The firm has absolutely awful technology. Antiquated laptops that frequently break, no desktops to use for processing power, few dual monitor set-ups. This is probably the least tech friendly place I have ever worked.

Pros

Amazing benefits. Great training. Opportunities to develop great friendships.

Cons

Support staff is not valued. Very little trust within the office. Base salary is lacking. Turnover is high within the EA group, and EAs are shuffled around to different consultants all the time, which never allows an EA the chance to support her/his consultant efficiently. Tons of office politics, "in-crowd" includes HR staff which is a conflict of interest.
