Pros

Remote Position Nice Office and Good Location Free Coffee

Cons

Culture of high turnover. The interviewers and the staff who do the onboarding tell how great the training is. You are promised a training approach that is complete and will ensure you get off to a good start. Instead its short, incomplete and doesn't live to those promises. They dump the properties on you. The people assigned to train you are instructed to spend minimal or no time with you. They are given too much work themselves, they feel more compelled to get back to their own work. These individuals have little time for questions. It leaves you in a situation where learn it yourself, work long hours or get tired of it and leave. It depends how long you can tolerate it. A Controller and a Senior Accountant had left after I joined the team. The vast majority of the people leave within a year or less. Most salaried Accountants work a lot of overtime and don't get paid for it. This is consensus I learned from quite a few Accountant who currently work at CBRE. The company offshored their Financial Operations to India, which has turned into a mess, even though the company labels it a success. Its was a difficult situation to work with since you depended on their work.

Toxic Workplace

Business Outlook

Pros

-Convenient location in Downtown -Nice office and views

Cons

-Demeaning workplace culture. You were never fully trusted with your work. Some brokers were extremely rude and very demanding and made you feel less. -Toxic masculinity. A lot of all male broker teams while the females were mainly the assistants/administrative staff and treated poorly. -Expected to work outside office hours with no overtime pay. No boundaries between brokers' requests to admin staff after hours. -Little to no training. -Lots of turnover. Many lay offs -Stuck in their old ways and not open to changes. -No workplace flexibility. Once things began to open up, expected to go back into the office full time. -No boost in workplace morale especially during COVID lockdown work from home situation. Very isolating, no checkins from management to check in on mental health, or workplace group zoom activities to build relationships with coworkers, not even lunch appreciation over Zoom. -Very cliquey -No career growth. Faster growth at other brokerages. -Not a good place for your mental health. -Hierarchy, treated like royalty if you make money for the business (i.e. top of the top brokers) vs administrative staff who support the brokers are treated bottom of the barrel. Even junior brokers and brokers who don't generate a lot of income are treated poorly, lots of work and effort for little to no reward or props.

Pros

- Lots of company activities - Nice building and equipment

Cons

- Culture is like high school - if you aren't "popular", management will go out of their way to make your life miserable no matter how hard you work. - They aren't good at training their employees. They send you to a general training course which doesn't have anything to do with your specific job and then assume you magically know how to do everything for your job. Then they get mad at you when you ask questions about the specifics of your actual job. - Treats employees like kleenex - we are used and overworked until we are completely spent and then they will try to get rid of you by making your life miserable.
