Pros

They do offer some events each year for employees, but the day to day is not about employees and their success but just looking good on financial reports.

Cons

The company puts very inexperienced people into leadership positions, due to the rapid growth recently. Plus they couple it with basically requiring you to work without breaks or lunch, due to the tracking metrics being so high and strict. The inexperienced managers don't know how to work with their people and are just bought in to the cult like culture of people obsessed with the company. You'll hit your metrics to 100% and then be told that's not enough and you're failing and could be fired. I've been working for 6 months and seen 10% of the staff be fired because they did not hit metrics a handful of times. The inexperienced leaders don't know how to encourage, drive, or train their team. They just gripe at people if they are not significantly over 100%. The inexperienced leaders do not know how to train or give good feedback.

Pros

- Everyone is ready to hit the ground running and ready to lend a hand - Since it's a start up environment, you can get involved in various projects and get a broad range of experience - Transparent upper leadership in regards to business goals and future initiatives - Employee perks included free membership, healthy snacks, company swag & well respected brand reputation (ie: sometimes other companies sent us free things!) - Waaaay casual dress code! Athleisure all day, every day. - There's a cool workout room in the HQ with foam rollers that were awesome.

Cons

- Compensation felt low compared to NYC cost of living and comparable Glassdoor position listings - It's certainly an environment where one has to take initiative and be an advocate for themselves. This can be a nice challenge or a bit stifling, depending on your preference. At the beginning of my time there it was awesome but at the end it became tiresome. It started to feel like I was being siloed into a department. - Many managers were young and seemed unknowledgable on how to handle direct-reports' professional development and conflict - Promotion process and cycle was ambiguous. I often wondered: Can we get promoted outside of the review cycle? Is the promotion based on merit or seniority or a combination of both? Why was "so and so" promoted quietly without any announcement? Why hasn't "so and so" been promoted yet when they're taking on so many more things and doing so well?

Pros

- Well-funded business with lots of interesting dynamics at play (monthly subscription model, two-sided marketplace) in a growing industry; as result, lots of interesting work to be done and great growth opportunities for employees - Strong executive-level leadership that exercises sound judgment in prioritizing resources and promotes a true "marketplace of ideas" intellectual culture where everyone is encouraged to debate/dissent and the best ideas win the day, regardless of where/who they came from - Optimal work culture for strong performers; you're expected to and will be rewarded for hard work, but you can generally set your own hours and take time off/work remotely when needed - Most people who work here are just genuinely nice people; I give the founders a ton of credit for generally hiring kind, non-toxic people in the early days of the company which proliferated over the years

Cons

- Mostly typical startup/growth stage company stuff; can be hard to feel like you're "on top" of everything given the sheer number of moving pieces at any one time, and there's so much to be done (in a good way!) that work can feel very consuming if you don't actively manage your own work-life balance
