Not a long term play

Pros

cool to work in the health and fitness industry.

Cons

You are smiling and dialing through lead lists that 3-5 other AE's have already ran through in the past 12 months. Everyone you call is tired of being called. Pay here is well below market rate and they seem to know it as anytime there is a comp change (there have been two now since I started earlier this year) it's reiterated "on our culture survey folks like working here for a lot of different reasons not just pay"---breaking news the only reason anyone works is for $$$. There seems to be a lot of issues centered around the Mindbody/ ClassPass relationship. The only two times I've personally heard the CEO make statements about the company internally was sending out a message to everyone on what was supposed to be "a mental health off day" telling people not being available was inexcusable and when apparently he went back on promised changes to the PTO program and said "it would have cost $2M unexpected to honor commitments they had made to the workforce"....big red flag when orgs micromanage to this level, underpay, and are consistently cutting back on benefits. Very toxic positivity and you better be drinking the koolaid and buying into that culture immed.

Just don't

Pros

Some of the best people you'll ever meet - though many of the best people have left the company. Benefits were ok While it's become insanely expensive, it is still a great product Someone here wrote that ClassPass is great for recent college grads, and I would agree. It's a good place to get sales experience for a well known tech company. For anyone else, growth opportunities are extremley limited

Cons

I'll just echo what others have said. ClassPass has gone so downhill and upper management doesn't seem to care. Many long term employees have left the company with little to no acknowledgement from higher ups. Out of control favoritism (I sound bitter writing that - I had some really awesome friends at ClassPass but know many people have left the company just because they didn't "fit in") The managers play favorites like no other. Micromanaging is an issue - they care about hitting numbers and not much else. This creates really tense working environments and fuels a catty, competitive culture. On top of that, feedback I escalated to my manager and HR fell on deaf ears. They know all of their employees are replaceable so they don't bother to follow through with improving the culture or acting on concerns/feedback/suggestions. Funny, because that's the exact opposite of their "values" they are so obsessed with. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, except a new grad who wants sales/account management/start up experience. The mood in the New York office is just sad. If you live in Missoula or feel like moving to Montana, you might like ClassPass there.

They are losing their soul

Pros

The health benefits were great, and early on, the company was a 'presume good intent' company. I would say that is now just a smokescreen to allow negative things and put a pretty bow on them. I do, however, love startup life.

Cons

The culture has changed a great deal, as it wont to do with a startup, but it's changing in the wrong direction. Because it is growing so fast, people are being promoted who are not even remotely ready to manage people, which creates issues down the pipeline. The biggest con I can see is how much of the customer service is being sent to the Philippines. The ClassPass voice used to mean something, and was recognizable to their members, but they are now hiring people who clearly aren't a good fit, merely to save on costs and benefits. Sadly, it's the members who pay for that in difficult service.
