Pros

- Product that users love - Employees get free use of the product

Cons

- Product decisions are made with zero input from engineering - Deadlines are continually forced on teams by the leadership team - Features pushed out to meet deadline are often broken, incomplete and teams are forced to move onto the next feature - Burnout is a real issue in engineering - Culture of the entire company has been in decline, CEO brings a bro-culture and we're hiring more and more people that align with that mentality - Clear disinterest in bringing benefits that matter to employees - free ClassPass membership is often touted as the prime benefit, meanwhile no 401K matching or any interest in it despite a large funding round

Pros

- Very Smart People - Very Fast Moving - Opportunity for Advancement - Company has a ton of potential - Company growing very fast - Get to work out - People are funny and positive - Travel between NYC and SF a lot

Cons

- Lot of work - Sometimes engineering moves faster than design, mistakes get made - Not many perks. If you want perks go to Google. Cut throat environment where underperformers WILL be fired. This isn't really a con but be ready for it. Engineers are not immune.

Pros

I'm going to split this into two sections, the company's trajectory from a business perspective, and the culture of working here. On both accounts the company is excelling, but I think the distinction is important. In terms of business, it couldn't be better. When working on tough challenges at ClassPass I frequently think to myself "this is a winners problem." In the last year we have grown the team a lot to account for our growing business, which can be a hard process—but so worth it. The transition from being a small startup to a real company has been palpatable and very positive. We have our ducks in a row, and I'm looking forward to helping more people lead healthy, active, and fulfilled lives. Now, for culture. I would sum it up by saying we are a BS free team. We value positivity and personal development, while focusing our energy on tasks that move the needle the most for our members, our studio partners, and our business. We test ideas before scaling them (a sign of a healthy mindset regarding growth), and we aren't afraid to fail. I don't find myself doing anything day-to-day that I would consider "busywork." On the product and engineering team we use Jira very effectively.

Cons

Fast growth comes with fast changes to process and product. We accrued some technical debt as we focused on scaling the business to meet our reliability standards, though as we've grown the engineering team we now have more bandwidth to pay down that technical debt. We communicate a lot with one another, at times I must remind myself that not all meetings are mandatory.
