Pros

+ young team + a lot of room for growth and opportunities to learn + you can really be yourself at work + great work-life balance

Cons

- many Juniors, high fluctuation, so they keep making the same mistakes - leadership is not really strong (often either too hands-off or micro-managing) - not that cool as a foreigner as they speak Dutch quite a lot in official communication

Pros

+ Large diversity in cultures working at Headoffice: Lot of interesting perspectives. + Strong company values, actively being promoted with clear vision on why they are being pursued. + Positive atmosphere that promoted building friendships and improve social cohesion. After hours activities like going to the pub, out to dinner or gaming together are encouraged and appreciated. Or play a game of pool during workhours. + CEO Pieter Zwart is a truly inspiring person and shares his vision regularly with the company. + Agile division with motivated and value-adding agile specialists help teams grow both at a professional level and also personal level. + Training resources available for both hard- and soft-skills to be effective at software development.

Cons

- Large diversity in cultures can lead to more miss-communications happening. - Slow start on work-from-home initiatives and support during COVID-19 epidemic. Mostly addressed at this point, but is an indicator that the company somewhat conservative in supporting it's employees. While valuing and promoting a 'just do it' mentality they failed to deliver on that value during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. - Working at the office in Rotterdam had a lot of perks, which you don't get when working remotely. And Coolblue does consider the 'at the office perks' part of it's compensation strategy, which during the COVID-19 working-from-home requirements makes Coolblue lose out of the appeal they used to have and exploit. Perhaps a temporary thing, but work hasn't been as fun as it used to before COVID-19.

Pros

"A bit better every day" is the company's slogan for its employees. At Coolblue there is a culture to continuously improve yourself and help make Coolblue a better company for its customers. You will enjoy a lot of technical freedom of which you will take ownership with your team. Coolblue values soft skills, like communication and teamwork, a lot.

Cons

We do agile scrum, but there are not enough scrum masters. Our team hasn't had a scrum master in the past 2 years. Working from home you will miss a part of the company culture, great office and beers with your colleagues.
