Pros

You can work with most modern technologies across all areas of IT.

Cons

A 1-2 ago, I would have given a rating of 4 or 5 stars, but now it's dropped to 2 stars. Earlier, they listened to their employees. They allowed remote work permanently, which we employees considered the biggest benefit in the company and we have identified this also in Great Place To Work questionnaire. We were so grateful for this. It had extremely big impact to our lives in terms of work-life balance and our families were much happier when we had this benefit. They returned most of the Prague office spaces to the landlord and hired many people from cities other than Prague. On interviews, it was verbally promised this situation will remain as everyone is benefiting from this. They assured us that this work model has brought numerous benefits to our professional and personal lives and they will keep it. Prague has the most expensive real estate in all of Europe compared to wages. As a result, many of us bought homes far away from Prague. Now, they have decided to require us to go to the Prague office two days a week, even if all our team members are in Bonn or Malaysia, or if our team consists of only 2-3 people and meeting them is almost impossible. So now, even if you live 3 hours away from Prague, you have to travel to the office and work there without being able to interact with your team members. The office is too crowded, making it difficult to hear during calls, and meeting rooms are often occupied. If you are a programmer, you hardly can concentrate. Lunch is either in a noisy kitchen or an expensive restaurant where you eat alone because your colleagues are in different cities, then you spend another hours traveling back home. It doesn't make sense. This situation should be addressed individually with each person, based on whether it causes more harm than benefit. It really doesn't make sense to ask what we want and what we appreciate and then do the exact opposite next year. So what really happened, DHL?

Big disappointment

Pros

Global stable company, well known worldwide.

Cons

Where to begin... Besides really low salaries compared with other companies, the benefits package is also really poor. I have been working for 8 years with the company and 5 years too long. With my competitive salary, I am unable to afford to live by myself with the current economy and the prices in Prague. In 2020 the company moved to a 100% remote work system. In March 2024, from day to day, they announced that we have to report back to the office. For over 2 years company assured us that we will be working 100% remotely, they even shut down around 70% of the office space (2 out of 3 buildings). With our really low salaries, almost everyone moved out to the location where we could afford to live, and now out of the blue within a few days, we need to find a new place as we have to report back to the office. I hope you are aware that this will lead many people to decide to leave the company, as the 100% remote working system were the only thing that kept us in. Good luck.

Dear colleague, We deeply understand your concerns and frustrations. Your dedication and commitment to the company for eight years speak volumes about your loyalty and passion. We apologize for any confusion or disappointment caused by the recent changes in our remote work policy. Please understand that the change in our remote work policy is not meant to inconvenience or annoy our employees, that is agreed worldwide, and probably due to tax reasons. The well-being and satisfaction of our employees are paramount to us, and we acknowledge the impact of these sudden shifts, especially considering the current economic climate and cost of living. We are actively reviewing our policies and procedures to ensure they reflect the evolving needs of our workforce in today's world. Your feedback is invaluable, and we are committed to addressing these issues and finding solutions that prioritize the welfare of our employees. Please know that your voice is heard. Thank you for sharing your concerns, and we are here to support you through this transition. Your DHL Team

Pros

Stable environment, good colleagues, lunches together, best location and workplace in Prague. 6 sick days, home office possible, colleagues within the team/department tend to help each other

Cons

Obsolete infrastructure, one has to always escalate, if resolution is needed, sometimes infra teams are overloaded and resolve tickets late. One has to fight with business over almost everything, money, resources, etc. Solution support is responsible for everything, overloaded. It is very difficult to get pay rise, or promotion. Teams works good internally, cooperation between the teams is poor. Turnover in the team slows down the knowledge transfer, sometimes key person leaving can drain the team knowledge. Difficult to retain good team members due to rigid promotional process and almost impossible pay rise
