      A leading network security company, but not a particularly exciting place to work...

      Pros

      It is a company that is continuing to grow in the network security space with a focus on intellectual property development.

      Cons

      The company places huge emphasis on the sales organization and next would come engineering. However, I feel that the support organization (i.e., marketing, finance, IT, HR, legal) is often shortchanged and overlooked by management.

      Pros

      Work is always interesting, the cyber security world is a rapidly changing market which means Fortinet and its employees have to be quick on their feet and ready to adapt. Good benefits and vacation packages. Hours are good.

      Cons

      Stale working environment, not a lot of excitement in the office. Everyone is very fearful of management. Pay seems a little low for the cost of living in the silicon valley area.

      Pros

      Compensation and benefits are very good. Respect for work/life balance is driven from the top down. The organization is flat, moves quickly and lacks bureaucracy which makes it very easy to move initiatives forward and get results. The leadership has an open door policy which is truly open. Ken and Michael Xie are some of the best technologists in their field but truly humble and grounded. Industry-leading technology and and focus on innovation across the company, consistent growth and the company has an excellent long-term opportunity.

      Cons

      The company gets a bad rap for marketing which sometimes is more than it deserves. Yes, it has it challenges and it is primarily a technology driven company but marketing change is a constant in the SV - Check Point, Proofpoint and others recently had CMOs stay less than a year.
