Pros

- extended vacation (more than anywhere I worked before) - company stocks and interesting stock purchase plan - location - not directly in the city center (15-20 min with bus/underground) so you won't loose time in traffic (plus it's 5 min to nearest metro station and 1min to nearest bus) - if you're good you get promoted... which is not that obvious at some other places - no night shifts etc - people you work with - salary is way above average - flexibility! need to go to a doctor with your kid or pick up a package from UPS? no worries (sorry for sounding like a vacuum cleaner commercial...) - unique learning experience - better be ready for being thrown in at the deep end at some point (fortunately you're covered just need to open your mouth and ask around if you feel lost)

Cons

I find it quite hard to find something that really disturbs me... coffee could be better maybe? Another thing that I personally may complain a bit about is that it's not a remote job (it's technically possible, the infrastructure is already there but you just have to show up at the office). No entertainment area (it's definitely not a googleplex) No shower (running during lunch break may be unpleasant... for your co-workers)

Pros

Great CEO and upper management who understand the industry deeply and have the great vision and excecution. Company is growing fast in a hot industry. Smart, hard working, and friendly engineers. VPs and managers of engineering are engineers themselves and many are with the company for a long time. They know what they are doing and make right decisions. Because of the compentency of the engineering managment, there is absolutely zero politics in the work place. Everyone just works hard to deliver. Management knows what you do and rewards are based on performance unlike many other companies where rewards and promotions are based politics, how well you talk or whether you are boss's buddies. This really makes a difference on the happiness of engineers and the overall efficiency of project execution. Have solid but reasonable work load. You'll have things to do all the time but don't need to work overtime or on weekends. Work life balance is good, people do take vacations and managements are cool on it. Fortinet is absolutely NOT a "Chinese style sweat shop" company as someone labels it. The whole company including HR is working hard to offer the best working environments and make it a great company in silicon valley. I have worked for giant and small companies in the valley before Fortinet, I can tell you that the company culture is typical to a public company in the valley but without politics. There were some tough times in terms of work load or management style in the past especially before IPO according to some people being with the company for a long time, but all has been changed and improved during the past a few years. It now has the startup efficiency and big company's work/life balance. This is the best combination and my concern is how to keep the startup efficiency when the company is growing bigger so fast!

Cons

Communication from middle/uppder management to the employees are on the lean side. No cafeteria and only free dinner.
