It's great to hear that you think Future is a great place to get early experience, we really agree which is why we have 30 young people participating in one of our young people schemes including graduate programs, apprenticeships & kickstarter at the moment. Hiring and developing young people is key for us in bringing new ideas and perspectives across every area in our business. We're sorry that you don't feel like there is enough room for development for young people, we like to think that our high-growth nature means there are always growth opportunities for everyone. If you'd like to talk to us in more detail about the growth opportunities in your area please don't hesitate to get in touch with us directly at careers@futurenet.com

Pros

The unlimited vacation days were very much a plus. If you need to move or cannot come to the office, the company is willing to accommodate. Though work days can be hectic, for the most part your weekends are YOURS and overall managers respect your time off.

Cons

Future PLC is an ...okay... place to work if you're in need of a next-level job with the plan to transition elsewhere. This is NOT an ideal place for you if you're looking for a stable, longterm position where you can work your way up and advance your career internally. Within my first year of employment under Future, I knew right off the bat that I would not be staying here for long. My fellow staff members were awkward and/or non-inclusive towards me. Though I tried, I struggled to bond with most of my co-workers. Though it wasn't a necessarily unfriendly environment, it was a strange mix of cold interactions with the occasional forced and inorganic social celebration. Within year-one, my manager disclosed to me that Future isn't interested in granting raises or promotions. Not only was I denied any upward mobility despite my hard work and dedication, I was denied a work budget that would have allowed me to excel in my role and benefit the company. My coworkers and I agreed that we were not given the tools to produce the our best work . Instead, it seems you're basically fighting to stay afloat. Due to budget cuts, (I'm assuming from owning too many brands), Future is always understaffed and overworked. And with staff feeling overseen and neglected by upper management, most wind up leaving. The turnover rate is tremendous. Poor training, errors, friction and low morale are a result. Depending on which publication/dpt. you wind up in, there is clear favoritism shown by upper management towards B2B but particularly UK staff. (ex. promotions, presents, awards, recognition.) There is no HR. Rather, a "People and Culture", with no defined point of contact for when you have an issue. Companywide, it was difficult keeping track of employees and points-of-contact because of the high turnover rate and poor communication.

Hi there, Thank you for taking the time to leave such a detailed review. It sounds like you feel like in your tenure at Future your contribution wasn't valued, and I'm sorry to hear if that was the case. To help to clarify some of the assertions that you relayed from your previous manager, we absolutely believe in the value of our employees who make an enormous contribution to our business. And importantly we believe in rewarding people when they do a brilliant job. That's why our profit pool has paid out in full in 4 out of the last 5 years. And we absolutely love it when our employees succeed in moving up through the company, we're very proud that in this year to date 269 of our open roles have been filled through internal candidates. We wish you well, and if you would like to continue the conversation further please don't hesitate to get in touch with us directly on careers@futurenet.com
