SmartBrief getting acquired by Future doesn't mean the trash people are going to stop being trash
Pros
If you're lucky, you make long-term friends -- Misery loves company, after all. Happy hours. Once you've earned your stripes you can cruise at work. Metro benefit. Unlimited PTO.
Cons
Where to even start? Basically everything is a con. There is absolutely no redeeming reason why anyone should work with the SmartBrief team at Future, and there is nothing Future can do to change that, unfortunately. The whole team is being carried by a measly number of competent, smart people who just need to leave and/or have left. Everyone else is literally incompetent with no brain cells, selfish, and offensive. These people refer their friends to work here, so you just have more incompetent people in one place. What's more, the offensive, racist people not only don't get reprimanded, they actually get promoted! Clearly, promotion is not based on merit. The pay is a joke. There is no room for negotiation either. Everyone micro-manages. No one is professional. You end up learning *way* too much about people because they can't shut their loud mouths up. It gets so bad you forget you're at a work and not high school. There is no recognition, no professional development. Performance reviews are a joke. You can't move up unless you suck up. "Moving up" also is just more of the same work. You don't learn anything new and you're not able to expand your skill set to be marketable. The turnover is so high that if you are here for more than a year you stop remembering people's names because you simply can't keep up. It's true SmartBrief is under Future leadership now, but the same people who made SmartBrief problematic still works there, so it will still be problematic, no matter what.
