Pros

It's like starring in your own tragic comedy

Cons

Ask any former Future staff member about their experiences with the firm and you'll get the same answer. The firm takes over its rivals, guts them from the inside out and then sacks staff from both the wider Future team and the newly acquired firms. Editorial staff members that would be junior team members at anywhere with integrity are given senior job roles (but junior pay) and handed the responsibilities of their newly departed colleagues. The imbalance of experience between editorial and sales means that nothing is off limits when it comes to making a quick buck.

Before I go any further in this response, if you genuinely feel like you were in a constant state of fear regarding your job I implore you to reach out to our People & Culture team so we can get that dealt with. That is the farthest from the environment we have worked very hard to create. Change is hard, and Future has changed a LOT over the last couple of years. It's not difficult to admit we weren't as prepared for rapid growth as we should have been, but there's been so much work to address this over the last year that I struggle to agree with you regarding how we handle junior and senior staff members. We're a company which values expertise in every aspect of the company, and sometimes that expertise lies more in developed skill and less in veteran status within the organization. Please, please consider reaching out to P&C with these concerns, we would love to add your feedback to our improvements. And I sincerely hope you are happier in your next position.

Pros

There are no pro's of being part of a Mergers & Acquisitions machine that categorically has no regard for the value or well-being of their staff that get sucked up along the way. They will spit out even the most experienced members of staff at the drop of a hat, to suit the whims and desires of people that have the faces that fit, and have all the power.

Cons

HR team doesn't exist and the ones that stay just bow to orders, not in it for the staff Management are a 'buddys' club - your face must fit and you must bow to the leader Zillah stated recently - ' we never forget that buying a business is all about the people - the biggest asset of all' - but the people in charge including her do not hold people in high regard at all. You are just a number, part of the M&A machine, you can and will be replaced at the drop of a hat. CEO brings family and buddies into the company and have no interest in the staff below them, cashing in massive amounts of shares along the way. Unlimited PTO is an absolute fabrication to make it look like they are part of the American way / Silicon Valley. There is no such thing. They don't support compressed hours, remote working for flexibility and want you in the office 3 days a week. There are also fixed 'core hours' where you are expected to be available, which throws flexibility out the window. Where does unlimited paid time off fit into that plan? Why cant I do compressed hours but I can take 4 days a week off? Look at your own policies. There's a reason why there's over 200 roles available at the moment. Put your time, effort and mental health elsewhere, not into these soul destroyers.

Pros

Good working spaces and resources. Opportunity to develop and train and do formal qualifications Unlimited holiday and time off for all at summer and Christmas which is good. Great brands and content

Cons

Micro management and CEO makes decisions on everything in all departments which can’t be sustainable or healthy long term for a Plc. Mgt spend so much time reporting up to CEO that they can’t be doing their jobs properly. Flexible working is not encouraged and CEO needs to approve any flex requests and she does not agree with flex… particularly any requests from parents to do things like 4 day week. CEO shouts and gets angry in meetings and singles out colleagues, so meeting culture is not good. Old fashioned style of leadership does not get the best out of people. High turnover of staff and managers as a result.
